Promoting Feeding FreedomInformation on breastfeeding venues is listed by English counties. We felt this was the best option so that mums can research venues in their local area, venues in areas where relatives may live or venues in areas you are visiting on holiday. Simply check the box of the county you wish to look at and the venues will appear in alphabetical order. You will see all the relevant information for the venue, with many details appearing in the form of symbols. The meaning of the symbols is indicated below.
We would love to hear your thoughts regarding presentation of the information or any other aspect of the site. Get in touch with

Marks and Spencer in the MetroCentre is always a handy place to feed. They have comfy seats, and highchairs for older children plus do babyccino drinks for 50p (warm milk with choc sprinkles!). There is a nice feeding and changing room off the cafe if you want to go somewhere more private.

After visiting Mothercare, I found they have a baby changing & breast feeding room. No doubt there are many more areas in the Metrocentre where feeding will be permitted, but at least you know Mothercare is a friendly place with like minded people!

Mothercare at the Silverlink provides what is quite simply the best breast feeding room I have seen. It has 2 rocking chairs plus foot stools, air conditioning and a cold water dispenser. It is an oasis of calm and I often go out of my way to find an excuse to feed there.I know this doesn't fit the remit of a public area, but I felt it was too good not to mention!

I am a midwife and ws thrilled to see a woman confidently breastfeed her baby in the cafe in Borders with no probelm and full supposrt from staff. It was very refreshing.

The Parents Room (located in the children's clothing area) is really useful in the middle of a shopping trip. There is a curtained area for breastfeeding, avent bottle warmers and good nappy changing facilities. The facility is dad friendly and water is available from a cooler. On the negative side, it is narrow, so can get a little cramped with pushchairs and the chairs in the breastfeeding area are practical, but not hugely comfy. Well done John Lewis for making the effort!
